Interview with QHS Principal Erin Mongiello :
“When I was growing up I wanted to be a doctor or a Crime Scene Investigator, I guess being a principal is kind of like both sometimes.I came to the Lake Almanor area from Santa Cruz, California. My husband was offered a job up here and we were excited about the opportunity.
We had talked about making a move to the Sierra’s for a long time. We love the climate and all the great outdoor activities that go along with it. The timing was perfect with our youngest daughter starting college and the other one already out of the house. Once we were up here I was lucky enough to interview and get the principal job at CES, I then moved to into my role as QHS principal in the 2017/18 school year."
“What I love most about being a principal is being a warrior for kids”
“My advice to kids is to set goals and stick to them. Also don’t take things too seriously. You have time to enjoy life, laugh, and play.”
Before Erin started her principal position in Plumas County she was an assistant principal in Watsonville, Ca. and a science teacher in the Santa Cruz Mountains. She loves anything that has to do with being outdoors, including, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and swimming. Her passion is “making the world a better place, I want to make sure that the kids I work with have the best opportunities to be successful”.
