Karen Hicks
Hola. My name is Karen Hicks and I am the Spanish teacher at Quincy Junior/Senior High School.
I grew up in Glendale, California, a suburb of Los Angeles, in the 1980s. I attended Mount St. Mary's College in Brentwood and graduated with a major in Spanish. During my time at the Mount, I spent a semester in Spain, where all the Spanish words and verbs I had learned finally came together and I reached fluency. It was exciting!
My passion is working with students and watching them grow from knowing zero Spanish to reading, writing, listening to, and speaking this wonderful language. I try to inspire the students in our community to want to learn more about the people, the cultures, and the Spanish language. Whether it's on the streets of Quincy helping someone with translation, or as they embark on travel experiences, my wish is that students use Spanish to communicate with the global community and make our world a better place.
My husband and I have three grown children, and we love to travel. I also enjoy crocheting, playing cards with friends, cooking & baking, and watching television. I moved to Quincy for the clean air and traffic-free streets, and I support this community by shopping locally and networking as much as I can.
Please let me know if there is an opportunity to blend our Spanish students with your business or activity.
