English 11 (Period 4th)

Students in grade 11 read three to four class novels/plays from the district-approved list of novels and some independent novels of their choice. Students also read and study a wide variety of non-fiction text. The focus English 11 is a close study of American writers. Students learn proper mechanics, usage, and grammar on a daily basis and engage in a comprehensive study of Greek and Latin prefixes, roots, and suffixes. A variety of writing genres are covered, and students write multi-paragraph essays throughout the year.
